Soon after the inauguration of the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road or BSAAR in November 2013, Cong. Albee requested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to categorize BSAAR as a national road to ensure that additional construction and maintenance be properly funded by the National Government. BSAAR lighting continues with rows of new lamp posts on both sides. Soon it will be a four-lane road with the ongoing widening. Also ongoing is the airport road extension to reach Barangay E. Lopez in Silay City. Under process is the extension of the BSAAR, Cong. Albee had announced, to reach Victorias City.
Along the national highway going north towards the poblacion of E.B. Magalona, turning right at the crossroad that leads to Barangay Sto. Niño stands a monument dedicated to Lt. Elias Magbanua, one of the brave leaders of men and women who fought against the American contingent in August to September 1899 at what was then known as Fort Guintabuan, stronghold of the Iloilo and Negros warriors.Elias Magbanua, born in Pototan, Iloilo was brother of Teresa Magbanua, the first woman fighter in Panay and was known as the Joan of Arc of the Visayas.
The historic Balay ni Tana Dicang and the Don Aniceto Lacson Ancentral House also known as the Claparols Mansion in Talisay City offer very interesting insights into the life and lifestyle of the landed Negrenses during the glorious days of the sugar industry.
