The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital molecular laboratory in Silay City, Negros Occidental, is getting an additional 10,000 COVID-19 testing kits, Gen. Mel Feliciano, chief implementer of the Inter Agency Task Force-Visayas, said.
Feliciano, who met Tuesday with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, provincial consultant Alfredo Benitez and representatives of five local government units under the Metro 3rd, said that additional testing kits are expected to arrive tomorrow.
The Department of Health earlier dispatched 18,000 testing kits to the TLJPH molecular lab, as facilitated by Rep. Francisco Benitez and Abang Lingkod Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano, following the operationalization of the Metro 3rd Emergency Operations Center for COVID-19.
Feliciano and members of the Regional Inter Agency Task Force discussed with Lacson and Benitez how to further improve the contact tracing efforts, testing, and containment systems.
During the meeting the importance of generating real time data and reporting was also emphasized.
Fifty-six residents of Silay City and one in Victorias City were subjected yesterday to swab testing.
They were on top of 562 3rd district residents, as well as 299 police trainees from Iloilo, assigned in Murcia.
The Metro 3rd EOC has a Quick Response Team on standby for swabbing, contact tracing and patient transport capabilities.*
