NEGROS SOLON: ‘HOLD HEARING ON HFCS IN NEGROS’

The venue for House committee hearing on High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) must be conducted in Negros Occidental, so it will be easier for all stakeholders of the dollar-earning sugar industry to air their sentiments on the interest of the industry and they will no longer travel to Manila.

This was the proposal of Bacolod Congressman Greg Gasataya having requested the Committee on Agriculture to hold the hearing here.

Medical Mission In Blumentritt, Murcia

The joint community outreach medical mission of the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation (BBBF), the Leisure and Resorts World Corporation (LRWC), and the District Office of Congressman Alfredo Benitez of the Third District continues this February in the municipality of Murcia. Another volunteer group has joined the program – the St. John’s Institute (SJI) Alumni Batch 1992. Two hundred twenty seven (227) residents of Haciendas Carmen and Oliva in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia were beneficiaries of the free medical and dental clinic conducted last February 12, 2017 in Hacienda Carmen. Program activities included distribution of free medicines, and feeding, games and story-telling provided for the children.*

Rides for Silay Theme Park to Arrive this Year - Golez

Silay City - Rides for the theme park that will rise in Silay City will soon arrive this year, Mayor Mark Golez said yesterday.

Golez confirmed that the theme park project of the Laguna-based Enchanted Kingdom group is already a go.

“Negotiations are ongoing and I have already met with the people who are going to plan to set up a theme park in Silay City,” the Mayor said.

Recognizing the vital role of irrigation in agricultural development, Cong. Albee Benitez joined the Public Scoping Session for the Malogo River Irrigation Project conducted by the National Irrigation Administration together with the Schema Konsult, Inc. last October 21, 2016 at the Natalio Velez Sports & Cultural Center in Silay City.

The Malogo Irrigation Project involving a 2.0 meters diversion dam to be built in Barangay Kapitan Ramon in Silay City is projected to benefit 8,625 hectares of irrigable area covering five barangays in Silay (Hawaiian, E. Lopez, Guinhalaran, Lantad, Bagtic) and six barangays in E.B. Magalona (Alicante, Cudangdang, Mantaangan, Pasil, Sto. Niño, Tanza).
