‘Health facilities part of readiness vs COVID-19’

BACOLOD City – Health facilities constructed here and in Negros Occidental are part of the readiness of local government units (LGUs) in their fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon, the COVID-19 testing czar.

During the recent inauguration of a quarantine facility in Barangay Alijis, Dizon said the construction of isolation centers and dormitories is part of LGUs’ preparations so that if COVID-19 cases rise again, “they will be better prepared than before.”

When COVID-19 cases began to rise in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, former congressman Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and retired Major General Mel Feliciano, chief implementer of the Visayas Inter-Agency Task Force, were talking almost every day for a week and were moving resources needed to assist the LGUs, Dizon revealed.

BACOLOD City – Despite doubts and opposition, officials of this city and in Negros Occidental will push through the planned “Timeout Weekend” – a four-day strategic plan to address the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

Former Negros Occidental 3rd District congressman and now provincial government consultant Alfredo Benitez assured the approval of the regional and national inter-agency task forces on the management of emerging infectious diseases.

He said the plan will push for a lockdown in Bacolod City on Aug. 28 to 29 and in Murcia, Silay, Talisay and Bago City on Aug. 30 to 31.

BACOLOD City – Top officials from two local political groups in Negros Occidental have announced a unified ticket for the gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial race next year.

Vice Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson of Love Negros and 4th District representative Jeffrey Ferrer of United Negros Alliance (UNEGA) will be running mates – the former for governor and the latter for vice governor.

This was confirmed by Love Negros’ 3rd District representative Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and UNEGA’s Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday at the Nature’s Hotel and Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

NHA: Talisay housing units of ‘high quality’

BACOLOD City – The National Housing Authority (NHA) assured the good quality of the 1,000 duplex housing units at the Vista Alegre Homes in Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The 15-hectare community will house families of soldiers, police officers and other uniformed personnel in Negros Occidental.

NHA general manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. said the housing units are of “high quality” and not “substandard.”
