‘Yolanda housing awardees banned from selling units’

Tuesday, July 3, 2018

Beneficiaries or awardees of the Yolanda housing project are prohibited from selling, encumbering, mortgaging, leasing, subletting, altering or disposing the lot, lot with housing unit, or rights and interest, in part or in whole, within 20 years from the issuance of the title.

This was underscored by Jasmin Beloya of the National Housing Authority-Bacolod during the recently-held orientation sessions in the 3rd District of Negros Occidental for the disposition of Yolanda permanent housing units, a press release said.

The conditions are contained in NHA Memorandum Circular 2018-004.

A total of 5,481 Yolanda permanent housing units are to be turned over to qualified beneficiaries in the 3rd District.

In Silay City, 1,992 housing units in Barangay E. Lopez are being readied for turnover, including the multi-purpose covered court with training center, and open spaces for community facilities, the press release said.

There are 1,168 housing units for turnover in Barangay Sto. Niño, in E.B. Magalona town. Aside from open spaces for community facilities, a covered court with training center will also be constructed in the resettlement site.

The Yolanda resettlement site in Victorias City has 2,321 housing units, and the NHA orientation will be held today.

NHA Bacolod area manager Alejandro Ongsuco said there are 27,055 Yolanda permanent housing units in Negros Occidental which are all constructed in Northern Negros, of which 5,481 units are in the three LGUs of the 3rd District.

Mary Grace Alderite explained that MC 2018-005 outlines what will be turned over by the NHA to the local government unit and the documents that need to be complied before the project turnover, the press release added.*
