Benitez eyes investors pulling out from China

Former Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, provincial  consultant on economic affairs, yesterday said his office is working on enticing investors in manufacturing to relocate to Negros Occidental.

The Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has made manufacturers realize that they should not put all their investments in one geographic location, as the China lockdown has crippled or slowed the operations of many firms, he said.

Capitol scrutinizes contract on CyberCentre

THE Negros Occidental Provincial Government is thoroughly reviewing the contract on the management of the CyberCentre to find ways to improve the position of the province.

Former Third District representative Alfredo Benitez, consultant of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Economic Development and Investments, said the province is not earning from the CyberCentre after the management was turned over to a private company.

Visayas congressmen support Cayetano on ABS-CBN issue – solon

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano had the support of 48 lawmakers from the Visayas over the ABS-CBN network franchise issue, Cebu Representative Vincent Frasco said Saturday.

“With due respect to former Cong. [Alfredo] Benitez, I can speak as Chairman of the Visayas Development Committee that my fellow Visayas representatives stand solidly behind Speaker Alan," Frasco said.

Former Negros Occidental Representative Benitez claimed earlier that the Visayas bloc wanted Congress to act quickly on ABS-CBN's franchise renewal.

The two were told it is not the best time to reignite any dispute over the speakership issue for it will take the House’s attention away from pressing concerns, particularly the threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Negros Occidental Provincial Consultant on Economic Affairs Alfredo Benitez yesterday said they are not relying solely on concerned government agencies to address the water scarcity in the years to come, the provincial government is taking a lead role.

It is very clear that we cannot stand still. I think the province should have an active role, and be the lead actor, to manage the water resource”, Benitez said.

Former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, who is the lead convenor of the 48-strong Visayan bloc, yesterday called on Congress to act quickly, on whether or not to renew the franchise of ABS-CBN Corp.

Benitez said the Visayan bloc and other solons are in agreement that Congress should tackle the issue on franchise renewal of ABS-CBN Corporation, and whether to grant it or not.

Benitez eyes creation of water council

FORMER Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez is eyeing for the creation of the Provincial Water Council that will handle the gaps and shortfalls of some national government agencies and local governments on water management.

Benitez who is currently the consultant of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Economic Development and Investments said that we cannot standstill and there is a need for the province to have an active role and should be the lead actor to manage the province’s water resources.

Whimsical architecture for the food court in Magikland

Two weeks ago, I went to Bacolod with four other friends from the press to visit Magikland, the theme park. I always enjoy trips to Bacolod because the people are warm and good-looking, while the food is delicious and always worth the food trip. At NAIA 2 prior to our departure, I saw my grade school and high school classmate (and tukayo) Patti Mirasol Matti and COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon.
