BRINGING THE FREE CLINIC TO REMOTE COMMUNITIES
Partnering with the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation, Inc. (BBBFI) and the Leisure and Resorts World Corporation (LRWC) for the conduct of free medical and dental clinics in far-flung upland and coastal barangays of the Third District, a total of 3,141 beneficiaries have been served.
Providing invaluable support and assistance to 10 free clinic activities were the local government units, barangay officials and volunteers from civic and professional organizations.
In 2014, free clinics were conducted in Barangay Katilingban, Talisay City and Barangay 11 (Gawahon) in Victorias City.
In March 12 to 15, 2014, a total of 57 beneficiaries underwent a cleft lip and palate surgical operation during a medical-surgical mission conducted at the Immaculate Conception Health Center in Victorias City. Patients were from Talisay, Victorias, Bacolod, Cadiz, Kabankalan and Manapla in Negros Occidental, and from Guihulngan in Negros Oriental. Cong. Albee tapped as partners the Cranio Facial Foundation of the Philippines, Smile Train Phils.and the Kaayong Lawas Foundation.
Providing assistance were the Victorias City government, BBBFI and LRWC, and office of Senator Francis Escudero who provided medicines and medical supplies.
In 2015, four communities were the beneficiaries – Barangay San Isidro, E.B. Magalona; Barangay Guimbalaon, Silay; Barangay Minoyan in Murcia; and Barangay San Fernando, Talisay.
Three more communities were reached in 2016 – Barangay Pasil in E.B. Magalona; Barangay 8 in Victorias; and Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay.*
