Silay Fisherfolks Train On Breadmaking
Forty-one (41) family members of different fisherfolk associations in Silay City are being trained on breadmaking and cakemaking by trainors of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, through the efforts of Third District Congressman Alfredo Benitez.
The trainees are either mothers, daughters or sons of fisherfolk families. The TESDA program is a special training for employment that provides starter kits, like portable ovens, to enable benerficiaries to start livelihood projects soon after the training sessions.
The ‘mananagat’ or the menfolk in the families who qualify are provided skills on handling and trouble-shooting the motor banca.
The Programs and Services Group of the District Office of Cong.Benitez is coordinating the conduct of appropriate skills training for livelihood opportunities for various communities in Victorias, EB Magalona, Silay, Talisay and Murcia.
In April this year, 123 residents of the District to include inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management in Victorias completed various technical trainings in Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Automotive.
Close to 2,000 beneficiaries have been assisted by the office of Cong. Benitez under the various TESDA livelihood training programs since 2011.*
