A revamp that will affect at least half of all committee chairmanship and other key posts is underway as newly installed Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo prepares to take on vital legislative tasks within the month.
PDP-Laban, the largest political group in the Lower House, quickly regrouped Wednesday to extinguish a possible fallout that could threaten party unity as a result of the hostilities triggered by the recently concluded speakership controversy.
Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez, reportedly designated as the party whip, revealed that the administration party remains formidable and will continue to play its role as the ruling political group in the House of Representatives.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First Engineering District has informed the Municipality of EB Magalona of P63.5 million in infrastucture projects for the town.
Mayor Marvin Malacon said the projects are through the efforts of Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District).

BACOLOD City – The Department of Public Works and Highways has approved P63.5 million worth of infrastructure projects in the municipality of EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.
Mayor Marvin Malacon said the projects were realized with help from 3rd district Rep. Alfredo Benitez.

Amid the social media drum beating of his supporters believing that he has already declared his intention to run for governor of Negros Occidental during the mid-term elections in 2019, Rep. Alfredo Benitez (3rd district) yesterday denied that he “officially” announced his gubernatorial bid.
In a text message to local media, Benitez said he “did not make any announcement.”
“I actually announced that I will rest,” the congressman said.
The report of the “announcement” spread like wildfire on social media yesterday among Benitez’ supporters.
A picture posted on Facebook by Silay City Vice Mayor Joedith Gallego shows Benitez raising the hands of some leaders.
Sources confirmed to Negros Daily Bulletin that the congressman had called for a get-together of his leaders and supporters at his fishpond in Victorias City late Wednesday night.

Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday brushed aside a social media post showing some Love Negros members reportedly endorsing Rep. Alfredo Benitez to run for governor of Negros Occidental in the next year elections.
Stressing that he has no idea about the Facebook post, Lacson said he is aware that there are Love Negros members who are endorsing Benitez.

NEGRENSES have been waiting for the decision of Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez in 2019, whether he runs for senator, governor or retire from politics.
However, the official, who is the third richest congressman in the country, has yet to announce his political decision for next year.

After claims were made on social media suggesting Negros Occidental third district Rep.
