The holding of a general assembly by the United Negros Alliance is being proposed for a fellowship of its members, Board Member Alain Gatuslao said yesterday.
They are hoping that before Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. steps down in 2019, Negros Occidental's politicians can be united again under one group, Gatuslaoalso said.

Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Alain Gatuslao recently revealed the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) is planning to hold a convention ahead of the 2019 elections.
He called it a “fellowship,” saying members have not met as a group lately.
With Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. in his third and final term, talk has arisen surrounding a possible gubernatorial run for Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez, who was recently backed by the mayors of his district.

Forty-eight of the 57 local government units in the Negros Island Region yesterday received the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance, in ceremonies held in Dumaguete City.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Interior and Local Government spearheaded the awarding at a local hotel, attended by local chief executives and other LGU representatives, among others.

Talisay City — A P30-million burial aid program has been launched in Negros Occidental’s third district.
Rep. Alfredo Benitez said the program will hasten the burial process for the less privileged in the district that comprises of Silay City, Talisay City, Victorias City, E. B. Magalona town, and Murcia town.

All elected officials, except those in the barangays have now completed one year in office. The President is expected to deliver his State of the Nation Address and as surely as tomorrow will come (unless Divine Providence intervenes) he will be telling the nation all the good things, the successes, that he had achieved.
Strong in this area will be his campaign against illegal drugs. If we measure this campaign in terms of the number of users, pushers and protectors exterminated, he has mainly succeeded. If we take it in terms of the guilty and innocents lives that paid for this “success” then he is a total failure.

This developed as Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said that running for the province’ top post is “an option.”
Lacson said that all politicians have “their own ambitions and want to step up the ladder.”

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday reiterated that he will support Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) in whatever position he runs for in 2019.
“It is up to Albee to decide” if he will run for governor of Negros Occidental or for senator, Marañon said, in reaction to support aired by the mayors of the third district for Benitez for governor.
