BENITEZ ON THE FIRST YEAR UNDER DUTERTE: VERY GOOD

Following one year with President Rodrigo Duterte in office, Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez said he has been “very good” as chief executive.
In a press conference yesterday, Benitez lauded the president for improving relations with China and welcomed Duterte’s strategic partnership with Russia.
“He is the only president to have established very good ties with China,” he said.
In terms of reducing crime, Benitez said the administration was also very successful, citing reduced crime rates throughout the nation.
However, he expressed concern over the administration’s economic package, or “Dutertenomics,” describing it as a “good plan” but would reserve further comment until after implementation.
