The Jison family of Silay City recently donated three hectares of land in the city’s Barangay E. Lopez as part of a planned Philippine Women’s University (PWU) expansion. The university is currently run by unopposed candidate for Negros Occidental third district congressman, Dr. Francisco Benitez, the brother of outgoing third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
The deed of donation was signed over the weekend at the Silay City Civic Center by Elisa Jison and candidate Benitez; and witnessed by Rep. Benitez, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez, the rest of the Jison family, and PWU executives and members of the school’s Board of Trustees.
“This is the best welfare towards growth, development, and protection of the Silaynons,” the mayor said.
The congressman said the expansion project will bring a better life for local residents.
“I have always dreamed to establish in this city, a system of education where everybody can have access to free and quality education that will serve as their pathway to a better life and a better future in this competitive world,” he said./DGB, WDJ
