NEGROS Occidental third district Representative Alfredo Benitez said he has not yet finalized his political plans for 2019, but admitted that he is being encouraged to run for governor.
"The election is still too far and we have a lot of things to do so I'd rather focus on those first," said Benitez, who is on his third and last term.
Governor Alfredo Marañon, who heads the United Negros Alliance, is also on his third and final term. Benitez leads Love Negros with Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who is now on his second term.
Meanwhile, Benitez said he fully supports the resolution proposed by Bacolod City Representative Greg Gasataya pushing for an investigation on the importation of high fructose corn syrup especially that Negros Occidental is the country's biggest producer of sugar.
Benitez said that all Visayas congressmen are supportive of Gasataya's resolution, which has already been referred to the Special Committee for Visayas.
