MOISES Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña endorsed Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez to be the next governor of the province.
In a press statement, Peña said that in his campaign against drugs with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), he did a background check of most of the provincial officials and that he did not find Benitez or any of his family members to be directly or indirectly involved in drugs.
“I know that the governor and his mayors are inclined to support Albee. I am always talking to my relatives who are his mayors and the congressman can finance all his mayors both under Love Negros and Unega,” Peña said.
He added that he believes Benitez can revive the original United Negros Alliance like it used to be before the 2013 elections when the two opposing groups used to be under one alliance.
Pena also pointed out that Benitez can solve the insurgency problem in the province as well as the problem against illegal drugs that will give him recognition and could be his stepping stone towards his dream to be senator of the country someday.
“I am therefore adopting the proposal of Board Member Patrick Lacson and that a manifesto to that effect should be signed by all mayors of Negros Occidental,” he added. (TDE)
