KABANKALAN CITY - The Negros Occidental provincial government, through its Comprehensive Health Program, has spent P134.2 million for medicines and hospital expenses of 250,987 patients, who are beneficiaries of the program, as of May 31, this year, its reports show.

Ma. Mina Pellejo, NOCHP head, and Barangay Captain Arthur Villaflor, distributed health cards to 1,546 recipients in Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City, yesterday.*

The 227,468 NOCHP member-families, with estimated number of beneficiaries of 1,137,340 , in all the six districts of Negros Occidental, excluding Bacolod City, are expected to increase, as the provincial government is aiming to hit its target of 250,000 members by yearend.

A team of NOCHP headed by Ma. Mina Pellejo distributed health cards to 350 members in Brgy. Canturay, Sipalay City, on Sunday, and to 1,546 more members yesterday in Brgy.Tampalon, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

NOCHP members and their dependents are entitled to free hospitalizations in all district hospitals of Negros Occidental, with the health program already institutionalized by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to ensure its continuity by his successors.
Since the program started in September 2010, the health care program has already served 219,615 out-patients and 31,372 in-patients, NOCHP records further showed.

The 3rd district of Negros Occidental remains with the highest number of family-enrollees recorded at 58,502; 6th district – 51,130; 2nd district – 45,669; 4th district – 31,747; 5th district – 21,739 and 18,861 in the 1st district of the province.

Rep. Alfredo Benitez had announced earlier that his 3rd district office has intensified registration of qualified members for the NOCHP to allow residents in far-flung upland and coastal barangays to avail of the health services.

The 3rd district, with highest number of family-enrollees, as expected, also posted the highest number of availments, with 81,123 patients had being served.

The NOCHP team is also scheduled to distribute NOCHP cards in Brgy. Binicuil and other neighboring barangays in Kabankalan City tomorrow, with more barangays in other districts of the province being lined up.*
