“I will have an open mind on it.”
That was the reply of Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) yesterday when asked for his stand on the move of Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez to file a bill legalizing same-sex union in the Philippines.
Fr. Felix Pasquin, rector of the San Sebastian Cathedral, appealed to the country's legislators to be guided by God's eternal divine law in crafting laws.
The Catholic Church is opposed to same sex marriages.
Contravening God's will only result in man's perdition, Pasquin said, adding that he trusts in the speaker's good sense.
