NHA: Talisay housing units of ‘high quality’

BACOLOD City – The National Housing Authority (NHA) assured the good quality of the 1,000 duplex housing units at the Vista Alegre Homes in Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The 15-hectare community will house families of soldiers, police officers and other uniformed personnel in Negros Occidental.
NHA general manager Marcelino Escalada Jr. said the housing units are of “high quality” and not “substandard.”
“My policy is to ensure quality. The model design here passed the test of the Department of Public Works and Highways and the NHA,” said Escalada.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the groundbreaking of the P1-billion housing project last week.
“I hope that you will realize also that we, the people of the Philippines you serve, would like to show our gratitude by at least providing (you) a dignified house,” Duterte said in his speech.
Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District), chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Housing and Urban Development, vowed to make sure the housing units are of quality.
Benitez added that this time, the NHA is careful in choosing its contractors and is monitoring ongoing construction projects.
According to Escalada, the target turnover date of the housing project is between December 2018 and March 2019.
The Vista Alegre Homes is the fifth housing project of the NHA. The four others are in Davao, Lanao, Tarlac, and Bulacan. (With a report from PIA/PN)
