I-HELP

NATIONAL HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT SUMMIT

As Chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, Cong. Albee took the lead in planning for innovative and integrated solutions to the urgent housing backlog.

While there are already good housing laws in place, Cong. Albee recognizes several problems – the increasing number of informal settlers in urban centers, lack of access to affordable housing units, and the challenges of getting the government, the private sector and the target beneficiaries to work realistically together.

Working jointly with the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlements, a National Housing and Urban Development Summit was launched in Valenzuela City on May 27, 2015, triggering a series of discussions among stakeholders for almost a year to seriously tackle existing issues and proposed policy and program interventions to address the housing concerns.
