Medical Mission In Blumentritt, Murcia
The joint community outreach medical mission of the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation (BBBF), the Leisure and Resorts World Corporation (LRWC), and the District Office of Congressman Alfredo Benitez of the Third District continues this February in the municipality of Murcia. Another volunteer group has joined the program – the St. John’s Institute (SJI) Alumni - Batch 1992.

Two hundred twenty seven (227) residents of Haciendas Carmen and Oliva in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia were beneficiaries of the free medical and dental clinic conducted last February 12, 2017 in Hacienda Carmen. Program activities included distribution of free medicines, and feeding, games and story-telling provided for the children.

Volunteer doctors were Dr. Elaine Hollero of SJI Alumni 1992, and from Victorias city – Dr. Ana Maria Laarni Pornan, Dr. Allen John Jamito and Dr. Ma. Victoria Mercurio. Dentists were Dr. Margarita Aparra, and Dr. Lenchen Abello of SJI Alumni 1992.
The LRWC group headed by Regina Benitez and Mylene de Mesa regularly conducts year-round medical mission all over the country as part of their corporate social responsibility thrust.
Partner facilitators in Negros Occidental’s Third District are the BBBF headed by Mary Ann Dino, executive director. The Murcia district satellite office of Cong. Alfredo Benitez is headed by Sonia Macapagal.
Twenty members of SJI Alumni 1992 joined as the new volunteer partner of the program. SJI Batch 1992 president Anne Lopue- Javellana, in an interview, said 2017 is their silver alumni homecoming year and they plan to give back to the community through a series of outreach activities, among them a re-visit to the orphanages and charitable institutions they had visited during their high school years.*
