Medical Mission to Honor the Memory of Remedios Bantug
A total of 292 beneficiaries were served during the May 25, 2019 Medical Mission organized by the family of the late REMEDIOS PALANCA BANTUG, former Mayor of Victorias City to mark her 100th birth anniversary at the Immaculate Conception Health Center of the Kaayong Lawas Foundation in Victorias City.
The family of LoIa or Mother Idiong Bantug, as she is fondly called by Victoriahanons, led by her children Mrs. Armita Bantug Rufino, and Mrs. Cynthia Bantug Regino, together with grandchildren and other relatives manned the medical mission with volunteer doctors and dentists, and distributed free medicines.
Cong. Albee with former Victorias Mayor Severo Palanca and his grandmother Remedios Palanca Bantug, also former Mayor of Victorias.
Also present was Mrs. Nikki Benitez, wife of Congressman Alfredo Benitez and president of Nikki Cares Foundation and Victorias Councilor Abelardo “Junb” Bantug III.
Assisting the medical mission was the Kaayong Lawas Foundation hospital director Mrs. Butch Gicana and Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation executive director Many Ann Dino.
The volunteer doctors included Dr. Eric Saratan, Dr. Ralph Cana, Dr. Grace Tan, Dr. Alyn Sany Pajantoy, Dr. Josie Quennie de Guzman, Dr. Babylin Drilon, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Porman, and Dr. Maggiet Apara,
Of the 292 patients, 187 were medical cases, 75 dental and 30 boys underwent circumcision.
Remedios Palanca Bantug was born May 26, 1919 and passed away in September 11, 2011. She served as mayor of Victorias City for three years at the age of 82, setting an exemplary record in public service, leadership and charitable endeavors.
The family commemorated her 100th birthday with a medical mission for the underprivileged, symbolizing the generosity and kindness of the Palanca-Bantug matriarch.*
