Seventeen (17) residents from various barangays of EB Magalona – housewives, out-of-school- youths, professionals, vendors, laborers, are now undergoing the Hilot Massage Wellness Training under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) facilitated by the office of Congressman Alfredo Benitez.
Small sugarcane farmers who are Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) holders, and small landowners in Barangay Alicante in E.B. Magalona were recently introduced to the Sugarcane Industry Development Act (SIDA) Block Farming Socialized Credit Program.
The orientation was facilitated by the District Office of Cong. Alfredo Benitez and conducted by its SIDA Block Farm Project point person Joemel Magno.
The Municipality of Murcia is currently completing requirements to be able to purchase land as another resettlement site for some of its Informal Settler Families under the District Housing Program of the National Housing Authority.
Representatives of NHA-Bacolod, Engr. Liezl Mequit and Mary Grace Catalan, met with Murcia Vice Mayor Gerry Rojas, Municipal Assessor and Housing Officer Randy Gamboa, and Municipal Planning and Development Officer Glenda Ruiz, last Friday, August 31, to review the checklist of requirements, the tasking, and the timeline for document preparation.
The meeting, held at the Mayor’s Office conference room, was also attended by District Coordinator on Housing Concerns Marie June Pavillar-Castro, from the Office of Cong. Albee Benitez, and Annie Olimpo of the Municipal Assessors Office.
Third District Representative Alfredo B. Benitez has been named as among the national awardees of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) 2018 KABALIKAT Awards Program in recognition of his exemplary support and cooperation with TESDA in the area of technical education and skills training for livelihood and employment.

Congressman Alfredo Benitez relayed this message to the seven youths of the Third District who are the first recipients from Negros Occidental of the full five-year scholarship grant from the People’s Republic of China under its Bilateral Study Program.
A total of 118 patients out of 153 from Victorias, Talisay and Murcia who came for the pre-screening on August 14, 2018 were cleared for major surgery for the NIKKI CARES LIBRE NGA OPERASYON on October 4 to 6, 2018 at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.
The free surgical mission is organized by Dominique “Nikki” Lopez Benitez, wife of Third District Congressman Alfredo Benitez who has started to conduct medical missions in various parts of the country more than two decades ago, in partnership with volunteer groups and the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation, Inc.
A total of 595 households in remote 24 sitios or puroks in ten (10) barangays in the five cities and municipalities in the Third District of Negros Occidental have qualified as recipients of the home-based solar system under the Department of Energy (DOE) Household Electrification Program (HEP).
With the initiative of Third District Congressman Alfredo Benitez, the Department of Energy together with the local government units and barangay leaders conducted last year a survey in far-flung areas of the District especially reaching off-grid households.
