Albee assures consultation on Malogo irrigation canal

Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) said yesterday thatthe proposed alternate canal route for the Malogo Irrigation Project along the planned circumferential road extension to Victorias City will not be implemented without the conformity of the affected landowners.
Benitez said he is assuring the landowners concerned that consultations on the canal system will be conducted.
The estimated cost of the Malogo Irrigation Project is PHP934.94 million based on the National Irrigation Administration presentation, he said.
So far, PHP 200 million was released for the project, PHP100 million funded from the 2017 national budget for the construction of dam, close conduits and right of way acquisition; and P 100M in 2018 for the construction of close conduits, right of way acquisition and siphon tubes, he added.
The Malogo project that is proposed to be constructed from 2018 to 2020,will irrigate 8,625 hectares of farmlands within E. B. Magalona and Silay, a NIA briefer said
The barangays covered by the Malogo project are Alicante, Cudangdang, Manta-angan, Pasil, Sto. Niño,Tanza, and Tabigue in E.B. Magalona and Hawaiian,E. Lopez,Guinhalaran, Lantad, and Bagtic in Silay City, the briefer said.
The diversion dam for the Malogo project will be located in Brgy. Consing, E.B. Magalona, it added.*CPG
