The meeting of officials of Love Negros and United Negros Alliance will happen “anytime soon”, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (Neg. Occ. 3 rd District) said yesterday at the sidelines of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative 46 th Annual General Membership Assembly in Manapla, Negros Occidental.
Benitez said that there have been feelers from both camps that it is about time to get together and talk about their plans.
“It will be soon, as we cannot afford to delay it. Anytime soon, we should be able to do that,” Benitez said.
Asked what camp will the governor and vice governor candidate come from, he said he still does not know, but assured that Love Negros will sit down with Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and officers of UNegA.
The decision was to discuss plans with the other camp to see if a working relationship can take place,” Benitez added.
At the press conference before the NONECO AGMA, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, and National Electrification Administration Administrator Edgardo Masongsong also pushed Benitez to run for senator in the 2019 midterm elections.
In his welcome speech, Cusi said on a light note that Negrenses should make Benitez a senator. However, he added that it is too early to vouch for that yet.
Masongsong also said he supports Cusi’s statement that Benitez should run and he hopes that he will soon be a senator of the country.*MLG
