NEGROS Occidental Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez said Sunday, May 27, there are already feelers from both United Negros Alliance (Unega) and Love Negros unity talks.
"Definitely, we will sit down with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., and with Unega and Love Negros soon. Maybe it is about time that we get together and we talk about what our future plans," Benitez said.
He said the two major political groups in the province need to discuss plans together, “so that we can see if there is a working relationship that can be established," he said.
However, he said at this point, there is no definite schedule yet if when he will sit down with Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
The two are expected to settle who will be running for governor in the 2019 elections.
Lacson has been saying he is just waiting for the decision of Benitez before he makes his official announcement regarding his future political plans for 2019.
Benitez said their political plans would be known on October which is the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy for the 2019 midterm elections.
He also did not give his definite answer when asked about the possibility that he will be running for senator.
