217 complete Tesda training in 3rd district

Friday, November 30, 2018

Two hundred-seventeen residents in the third district of Negros Occidental recently received completion certificates from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for finishing the Special Training for Employment Program, a press release said.

The skills trainings were conducted by Tesda, in partnership with the office of 3rd District Rep. Alfredo Benitez, who facilitated the community-based training sessions, in coordination with the local government units in the district.

Philippine Women’s University president, Dr. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, who represented the congressman in the graduation ceremonies in the cities of Silay and Talisay recently, rallied the beneficiaries to bring with them the education and skills, and the dignity of labor, wherever they may be, so they can bring development and progress to their families and communities, the press release said.

Tesda provincial director Jimmicio Daoaten cited the partnership of Tesda, LGUs, and Benitez in providing invaluable opportunities to those who are in need of skills.

The trainings included wellness massage, bread-making, cake-making, food processing like salting, curing, smoking, and service motorcycle/small engine system servicing. Sectoral groups covered were women, fisherfolk, overseas Filipino workers, drug rehab finishers, and inmates at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Talisay and Silay, the press release added.*
