41 Silaynons trained on bread, cake making

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority trained 41 family members of fisherfolk associations in Silay City recently,that is one of the programs of Rep. Alfredo Benitez in the third district of Negros Occidental.
Mothers, daughters or sons of fisherfolk families went through Tesda training that aims for their employment and providesstarter kits, like portable ovens, to enable beneficiaries to start livelihood projects soon after it,a press release from the office of Benitez said.
Participants of the pastry making livelihood training graduated on thelast week of July.
Apart from bread and cake-making,25 fishermen were also provided skills in handling and trouble-shooting motor boats.
The programs and services group of the district office of Benitez is also coordinating appropriate skills training for livelihood opportunities for various communities in Victorias, EB Magalona, Silay, Talisay, and Murcia, the press release said.
They will conduct a similar training to women from different barangays of Murcia this month, the press release said.
In April, 123 residents of the District, including inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management in Victorias, completed various technical trainings in shielded metal arc welding, automotive, and “hilot” or massage.
Close to 2,000 beneficiaries have been assisted by the office of Benitez under the various Tesda livelihood training programs, as well as trainings from the Department of Science and Technology and Department of Trade and Industry since 2011, the press release added.*
