MANILA- The National Housing Authority (NHA) will redesign the controversial houses on stilts for the refugees of the 2013 Zamboanga siege.

NHA General Manager Marcelino Escalada made the statement on Tuesday during an inquiry of the House of Representatives Committee on Housing and Urban Development on the collapse of a footbridge in the city last month.

MANILA—The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Wednesday blamed the contractor who worked on the faulty bridge in Zamboanga City for the project.

This as the House of Representatives Committee on Housing began an inquiry into the collapse of the bridge last month while officials were on it.

ZAMBOANGA CITY - The local government unit immediately fixed a footbridge that sent lawmakers and local officials into murky waters when it collapsed Thursday.

The new footbridge was still made of wooden planks.

Officials were inspecting housing projects of the Zamboanga Roadmap to Recovery and Reconstruction program when the wooden footbridge collapsed.

Among the officials who fell into the water were Representative Albee Benitez, Mayor Beng Climaco Salazar, Rep. Celso Lobregat, national housing authority officials and their staff.

MANILA- The ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party will open its doors to incumbent senators who will seek re-election in the 2019 mid-term elections.

Senate President Koko Pimentel, who also heads the party, said on Friday that the "offer" will prioritize incumbent senators.

MANILA - Dapat sampahan ng kasong kriminal ang JC Tayag Builders, contractor ng 2,000 pabahay para sa mga nasalanta ng Bagyong Yolanda, iginiit Martes ng ilang miyembro ng House Committee on Housing and Urban Development.

Una nang ibinulgar ng ilang whistleblower sa pagdinig ng Kamara na substandard umano ang mga materyales na ginamit ng JC Tayag Builders.

Sa isang press conference, ipinakita nina congressmen Albee Benitez, Ben Evardone at DV Savellano ang mga litratong nakuha sa site inspection ng mga pabahay.

Lawmakers find Yolanda housing projects substandard

MANILA- The House of Representatives Committee on Housing claimed to have found substandard housing projects in relocation areas for the victims of super typhoon "Yolanda" in 2013.

The panel, upon the resolution of Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone, recently inspected affected areas and claimed to have found mediocre structures. 

Housing committee Chairman Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez said he saw "glaring substandard" construction of facilities for the housing projects and noted that during their visit, they met a whistle-blower who testified under oath during their formal hearing that the materials used in the construction of homes were subpar.
