This was also the response yesterday of Negros Occidental Vice-Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to the statement of Rep. Alfredo Benitez, who is being pushed by the mayors of the 3rd district of Negros Occidental, to run for governor in the 2019 elections.

Lacson, who already signified his intention to run for governor of Negros Occidental in the next local election, reiterated that he will remain with the Nationalist People's Coalition, despite the invitation for them to join the PDP-Laban of President Rodrigo Duterte.

About 11,500 political leaders in Negros Occidental will simultaneously take their oaths as members of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakasng Bayan in Victorias and Bacolod cities tomorrow morning, Yves Akol, PDP Laban Negros Island secretary general, said yesterday.

The mass oathtaking is part of the push towards a federal form of government, he said.

PDP Laban national officials at the oathtaking will be led by party secretary general, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, and treasurer, Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Clint Aranas, Akol said.

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Sugar Board planter representative Hermenegildo Serafica as the new Sugar Regulatory Administration chief, Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) said yesterday.

However, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol last night told the DAILY STAR he could not confirm that Serafica was appointed as he did not have a copy of his appointment papers signed by the president yet.

The Victorias City government and Canetown Development, a subsidiary of Victorias Milling Co., signed an agreement on the perpetual right to use of the 10-hectare land in Brgy. XIX-A, Victorias City, at the Mayor's Conference Room, yesterday, a press release from Victorias City Hall said.

The donated land will be used as a housing relocation site of the informal settlers within VMC and Daan Banwa.

EB MAGALONA – The Bacolod Negros economic highway, which has been extended from Bacolod City to Victorias City, already has a budget of P600 million for its first phase of implementation by the Department of Public Works and Highway, Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), said yesterday.

Benitez said he was told by DPWH Secretary Mark Villar that he may increase the P600 million budget, which is already included the 2018 General Appropriations Act.
