Burial Assistance Program Update July 2018
TABANG SA KALISOD’ UP FOR REVIEW

Key personnel of local government units (LGU) in the 3rd District Integrated Burial Assistance Program(IBAP) were gathered by the Office of Congressman Alfredo Benitez recently for an evaluation of the procedures and assessment of problems, a year after its implementation after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding linking all the LGUs for a unified implementation.
Last year (2017) Cong. Benitez spearheaded efforts to coordinate systems, services and resources in order to efficiently and effectively provide assistance to constituents during their time of need in the case of death in the family.
Dubbed “Tabang sa Kalisod” the IBAP provided assistance to indigent families according to the following conditions - P 10,000 for the deceased who are not members of the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) or any private insurance provider; the deceased who are members of SSS, GSIS or any private insurance provided are given P 5,000. The deceased who are below 18 years of age to include infants are also provided P 5,000 assistance.
All LGUs in the Third District – Victorias, EB Magalona, Silay, Talisay and Murcia have designated units to process all required documents submitted to avail of the IBAP.
The discussion and assessment was led by the House of Representatives (HOR) staff of Cong. Benitez led by Mon Tarucan, Deputy Chief of Staff, together with the District Programs and Services Group led by Lagrimas Silvestre.
The LGUs were represented by City/Municipal Administrators, Legal Officers, Budget Officers, Assessors, Accounting Officers, Social Welfare Officers. Cong. Benitez’ Satellite Office Coordinators also attended the meeting.*
