Saturday, May 13, 2017
Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) and Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares will grace the launching of Brigada Eskwela 2017 at Inocencio V. Ferrer Memorial School of Fisheries in Talisay City on Monday, a government press release said.
Administrative officer Romeo Sanchez said the school will host the kick-off ceremony in the northern area of the province, to be participated in by all the Northern Negros Occidental area school representatives and stakeholders.
He said it is a week-long event where the community comes together to
contribute time, effort, and resources in ensuring that the school is ready for
the opening of classes.
The activity involves minor to medium repairs and maintenance work in the
school, cleaning, repainting and beautification of classrooms, school buildings
and surrounding areas, and a great number of manpower is required to accomplish
these tasks, he added.
The activity will also be attended by Talisay City Vice Mayor Samuel Siote, Department of Education Negros Island Region director Gilbert Sadsad, assistant schools superintendent Gladys Sales, principal Dency Grace Padillon, and other DepEd officials.
The Lopez Jaena National High School in Murcia, Negros Occidental, will also support the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2017, from May 15-20, its press release said.
“Brigada Eskwela is a big factor for assuring our learners in a
child-friendly school and the best learning environment for them to excel in
their various fields”, principal Benjie Magada said.
Activities include minor repairs in every classroom like damaged blackboards,
broken jalousies, cabinets and door, and orientation of students and parents
regarding disaster preparedness.
“We are inviting our LJNHS alumni as well as the parents and nearby community to
take part in this upcoming activity. We will make Lopez Jaena NHS a best school
for every learner,” Magada said.*
