Benitez heads Capitol negotiators in takeover of cyber center mgm’t

The Negros Occidental provincial government is aiming to take over the management of its Negros First CyberCentre (NFCC) in Bacolod City by January 2021, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said today, December 7.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has designated a team headed by former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, to begin negotiations for its take over from the Negros Property Management and Development Corp. (NPMDC), Diaz said.

3 provinces sign deal with USAID for P900M safe water project

BACOLOD CITY—Negros Occidental and two other provinces on Thursday (Nov. 19) signed an agreement with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for a safe water project worth nearly P900 million.

Patrick Wesner, USAID acting mission director, said the aid agency would give technical assistance to help communities in the provinces of Negros Occidental, Palawan and Sarangani build clean water facilities.

‘Health facilities part of readiness vs COVID-19’

BACOLOD City – Health facilities constructed here and in Negros Occidental are part of the readiness of local government units (LGUs) in their fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon, the COVID-19 testing czar.

During the recent inauguration of a quarantine facility in Barangay Alijis, Dizon said the construction of isolation centers and dormitories is part of LGUs’ preparations so that if COVID-19 cases rise again, “they will be better prepared than before.”

When COVID-19 cases began to rise in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, former congressman Abelardo “Albee” Benitez and retired Major General Mel Feliciano, chief implementer of the Visayas Inter-Agency Task Force, were talking almost every day for a week and were moving resources needed to assist the LGUs, Dizon revealed.

10,000 test kits for TLJPH molecular lab arriving today

The Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital molecular laboratory in Silay City, Negros Occidental, is getting an additional 10,000 COVID-19 testing kits, Gen. Mel Feliciano, chief implementer of the Inter Agency Task Force-Visayas, said.

Feliciano, who met Tuesday with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, provincial consultant Alfredo Benitez and representatives of five local government units under the Metro 3rd, said that additional testing kits are expected to arrive tomorrow.


The Department of Health earlier dispatched 18,000 testing kits to the TLJPH molecular lab, as facilitated by Rep. Francisco Benitez and Abang Lingkod Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano, following the operationalization of the Metro 3rd Emergency Operations Center for COVID-19.

Javi Benitez, 25, is a political scion, an up-and-coming action star, and a rising leading man under Star Magic, the talent-management arm of ABS-CBN.
