ALBEE MAY SEEK SENATE SEAT – BONG

The administration Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) has reserved a slot in its 2019 senatorial lineup for 3rd District Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez, Vice Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson yesterday said.
Lacson, a stalwart of the Nationalist People’s Coalition and one of the leaders of local political bloc Love Negros, made the revelation when Capitol pressed him for a reaction to a possible gubernatorial matchup against Benitez in 2019.

Will Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez run for senator in 2019?
Benitez is currently on his third and last term as congressman of the third district of Negros Occidental.
His Love Negros ally, Acting Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, when asked if Benitez will run for governor of the province in 2019, said “I know for a fact that the congressman (Benitez) was given a slot for the Senate by no less than House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.”

NEGROS Occidental Third District Representative Alfredo Benitez was given a slot by the party of President Rodrigo Duterte should he decide to run for senator in the 2019 elections.
This was revealed Tuesday, May 9 by Acting Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who said it was House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, secretary-general of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, who offered the senate slot to Benitez.

‘Private sector must help govt solve housing mess

The chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development said the government should now tap the help of private sector in addressing the country’s housing problems.

Lawmaker pushes audit of P5B housing budget

The House of Representatives will scrutinize the P5-billion annual budget for the government’s socialized housing program in light of the occupation of a government housing program in Pandi, Bulacan by members of Kadamay, according to Rep. Albee Benitez of Negros Occidental.
Benitez, chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development, on Tuesday inspected the housing units in Pandi that were originally intended for soldiers and policemen.

Congress will have to exercise its oversight powers to redirect government’s unsatisfactory housing and urban development program that is further threatened by the effects of the so-called Kadamay takeover of housing projects in Bulacan.
Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez lamented that while a P5-billion annual funding for socialize housing may not be sufficient to address the overall needs of the country, the money appeared to have been directed to implement housing projects that appear to have few takers.
