MANILA, Philippines — Magikland the Theme Park has inspired a movie…and vice-versa…produced by Albee Benitez, Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, with Christian Acuña as director. With a budget of almost P100M, the movie is 95 percent animation and high-tech visual/special effects perfected in a studio, with scenes of human actors shot in various locations including Tanay and Antipolo in Rizal Province.

Host Philippines, seeded ninth in the continental meet that will take place from February 11-16 at the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum, received a somewhat favorable draw.

Former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, Negros Occidental provincial consultant on economic affairs, Saturday said a push is underway to boost the province's production of craft beer and other alcoholic drinks to further improve the local economy.

That is why the “1st Sugarlandia Craft Beer and Spirits Festival”, also called “Inom Ta”, was held at Paseo Verde in Mandalagan, Bacolod City, Saturday, he said.

It had been a busy weekend ferrying media friends all over town who flew in to celebrate the highlights of the MassKara Festival and to cover stories about the sugar industry that is once again beset by the possibility of following the fate of the rice industry, which we all hope should not happen.

For all six of them, this was the first time to join the festivities and sadly, the heavy rains ruined what could have been an otherwise great visit for them.

Fortunately, the other sights and events to see around the province made up for lost opportunity to watch the Electric MassKara or party around Lacson Tourism Strip.

Alfredo Abelardo "Albee" Benitez and its partners - the Association of Negros Producers held the 1st Sugarlandia craft beer and spirits festival on October 26, 2019 at Paseo Verde in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

The 1st Sugarlandia Craft Beer and Spirits Festival is all set for October 26, starting 3 p.m., at Paseo Verde in Mandalagan, Bacolod City, a press release from the organizer said.

Former Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District), who is now the Capitol consultant on economic affairs, initiated the move to hold the event with the support and assistance of the provincial government and the Association of Negros Producers.
