FORMER 3rd district congressman Alfredo Benitez, said the Provincial Government is now drawing up exit plans from the community quarantine, which is set to expire next week.
During a press briefing Monday, April 20, Benitez said they have received a copy of the exit plan made and forwarded by the University of the Philippines-Visayas to Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas.

Former Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez is hoping a COVID-19 testing laboratory at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City will be operational this week.
“Barring any difficult requirements, I can have that testing lab up and running in not longer than two days,” Benitez, a Negros Occidental provincial government consultant, said yesterday.

CEBU CITY — Negros Occidental will soon have its own testing laboratory for the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which causes the highly contagious respiratory ailment COVID-19.
Former Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said the Department of Health (DOH) has informed them that the TB testing facility at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH ) in Silay City, is capable of handling the new coronavirus tests.

Negros Occidental will soon have its own coronavirus disease (COVID-19) testing laboratory operating at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, former Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez said yesterday.

Numerous complaints were raised yesterday, including from farmers delivering their produce, that their Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) passes issued by Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson were not being honored at the Bacolod City border checkpoints.
Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said he and the governor had discussed the matter, and City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan and Provincial Incident Management Team commander Jonathan Lobaton met yesterday to thresh out concerns on the provincial government issued ECQs.

Will the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Negros Occidental to prevent the spread of COVID-19 set until April 30 be shortened or modified?
Former Rep. Alfredo Benitez, in a live broadcast by the Negros Occidental Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) on Facebook yesterday afternoon, said Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson is set to meet with the mayors of the province today to discuss the status of the ECQ.
The live broadcast aired on the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental Facebook page to provide COVID-19 updates will be held 3 p.m. daily by the PIMT that operates 24/7 at its command center at the Negrese Residences in Bacolod City, even on holidays, Benitez said.

We must stand united as a community and a nation despite our frustrations on how our national government and local governments are responding to the COVID-19 crisis especially now that we have a positive case in our city.
We laud the efforts of our officials and government agencies if merited, but it should not also stop us from calling them out if we feel they can do more in preserving our safety and yes, our sanity.
What we feared the most has come true and perhaps, people will now take this virus seriously and heed the advice to stay indoors if at all possible.
